JVS

ASSOCIATE SCHOOL NEWS: COPIES OF DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE ASSOCIATE SCHOOLS CAN BE SEEN IN THE DISPLAY CASES IN QUARRY ROOM B.

SENIORS – CAR/TRUCK SHOW Sign ups will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during lunch periods only!

All Clearview BUS RIDING students will be released Thursday, May 10 at 2:05 pm.

Attention NTHS members. Please stop in and see Mrs. West in Student Services.

The Air Force will be here on May 9, 2018 during lunch periods.

The Army will be here on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 during the lunch periods.

Summer Interns there will be a mandatory information session Thursday May 10th 8:45-9:15 in Quarry Room A to discuss JVS Summer Internship details.

ATTENTION ALL BLOOD DONORS:

Seniors may pick up their RED GRADUATION HONOR CORDS on May 10th and May 11th at the front lobby table.
Thank you for being a blood donor hero and giving the gift of life!

Elyria – Seniors, please stop by students services to complete your DIPLOMA verification form. The theme of this year’s prom is “Around the World.” Single tickets are $40 and couples tickets are $80. All EHS fees must be paid before purchasing prom tickets. All EHS seniors have a senior fee of $35. If you are uncertain of your fees, please contact Ms. Soulchin @ (440) 284-5207.

Firelands – Seniors, please stop by student services to verify your name for commencement and your diploma. If you are attending prom, please pick up the permission form in student services.
Yearbook order forms can be found in Student Services; orders are due by May 18, 2018. Senior Superlative ballots are available in Student Services; nominations are due by 5/11/18.

Keystone: KHS seniors who are participating in the commencement ceremony will have an early release on May 9th for ‘Muffins with Mom/Donuts with Dad.’ There will be a bus to take the participating graduates to KHS at 1:10.

Oberlin: There will be a senior meeting on May 9th at 8am in Tech Center E.

Midview: There will be two students from Midview here on Friday, May 11, 2018 in the afternoon to take pictures of seniors in their labs.

Any 2018 Graduating Senior, who has committed to Military Service upon graduation, needs to Check in to Student Services. We are collecting information and checking our records at this time.

Avon Lake High School is offering a scholarship opportunity for any student planning on attending LCCC, Tri-C, or a Vocational school. Please see an Avon Lake school counselor for additional details.

Wellington – Prom is May 12, with the theme of The Secret Garden.

Amherst announcement shows are posted daily by 11am on both our YouTube channel and on our Facebook page. Just go to YouTube and search Steele News Live and click on the proper date. As for the Facebook page, it's updated multiple times daily, has our entire episodes, has individual stories that can be viewed independently, and other info. The page is updated every time we have a show. They can also be viewed at 10am, 3pm, 6pm, and 11pm on Warner 97 in Amherst. We can also be followed on Twitter@SteeleNewsLive.

Tickets go on sale today for Prom! This year’s theme is Prom in Paradise.
Prom in Paradise is just around the corner! If you are planning on bringing a guest who does not attend Avon High School, you need to pick up a guest form in either the Administrative Office or Student Services and have it completed and returned to Mr. Woods or Mr. Ryan asap. Tickets for guests cannot be purchased without an approved guest form and guest code, so get those forms in! All guests will be required to show a photo ID when entering prom. Tickets for Prom in Paradise will go on sale Tuesday, May 1st. Tickets will be sold online only from Tuesday, May1st through Sunday, May 8th. Tickets can be purchased in person Monday, May 9th through Wednesday, May 11th. Remember to talk with your friends about the table number you select, as tables cannot be changed after ticket purchase. See Mrs. Reinker with any prom questions.


 
Avon Lake

Graduation ticket orders are due to the main office by Friday, May 18th! Don’t be left out!

Attention Seniors! Interested in participating in your graduation ceremony? We need to select one student to give a 3-5 minute speech during graduation. Speeches just need to be a creative take on where your class is today. The valedictorian will speak about the future and your class president will speak about the past, so you can fill in the rest. The deadline is May 15TH by 3:00pm – speeches need to be turned into Mrs. Grieger in the Guidance Office.
The speech contest will take place on May 17TH in the TV Studio during 12th period.


 
Brookside

Attention Brookside Students,
If you park in the school lot to get on the bus in the morning, please do not park in the spots facing the baseball field as we need to have clear access for maintenance to be done on the field. You should be parking in the spots facing Harris Road. If you do not have a parking permit, you need to purchase one in the high school office. Thank you very much.

Spirit week will be the week of May 14th with the kick-off event being at 6pm at the stadium. Our kick-off event will be a Kickball Competition sponsored by the Sophomore Class.

There will be one co-ed team for each class. The event will run similarly to the Cardinal Bowl with a recognition of spring athletes. Team sizes will be unlimited and will be rotated during the game. Teams will begin forming Monday. Sign-ups will be online and the link will be available on my website. http://www.sheffieldschools.org/MrsKeller.aspx

ATTENTION SENIORS

Seniors if your parents are a member of OAPSE there is a scholarship opportunity for you! Check your email or see Mrs. Howard, Mrs. Kazel, or Mrs. Watson. Also, seniors remember to check your email daily! Important information and Scholarship opportunities are being sent to your emails regularly! Please make sure you are checking to see if you qualify to apply for any of these opportunities.

PROM GUEST FORMS

Guest forms for those students who do NOT attend Clearview, are available in the Main Office. All forms must be returned by Wednesday, May 9th.

CHEER TRYOUTS

Clearview Cheer Tryouts for next year will be held Monday May 14th through Wednesday May 16th from 4:30 - 6:30 pm in the Clearview Gym. Attendance at all 3 days is required to tryout.

SENIOR STEAK FRY

The senior streak fry will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd right after the Recognition Ceremony Practice. Seniors may purchase their $5.00 ticket for either steak or chicken in the Main Office. Deadline to purchase is Friday, May 18th.

Tickets go on sale for prom, after prom & Cedar Point beginning today, Monday, April 9. The price of the prom ticket is now lowered, it is only $35. Students attending after prom must have all three waivers completed and signed prior to purchasing your ticket. AfterProm waiver must be signed by Columbia parent regardless of age and guest’s parent if under 18. Two remaining waivers do not need parent signature IF student and guest are 18 or older. These are available in the main office and online. Tuxedo Junction coupons are available in the main office. Get $50 of any prom rental. Prom information is available on the fliers posted around the school. Out of Town Guest forms are available online or in the main office.

Attention Seniors: Graduation Applications were mailed home last week. These are due to Mrs. Kobe in the main office by Friday, May 11. If you need another form, see Mrs. Kobe.

Wednesday, May 9: We have our mock car crash beginning at 1:50 pm. Our Columbia students will be picked up by our bus at 1:20 that day to attend this home school event.

Friday, May 11 is prom. Columbia seniors are due to school at 7:25 am for a senior panoramic pictures, our senior breakfast and awarding of superlatives.

Sports News:Mark your calendars for the Cross country meeting on Thursday, May 24th at 6:00 PM in the high school cafeteria. This meeting is for all athletes interested in competing next year and their parents. If you have any questions please contact Coach Bailey

Anyone interested in trying out for cheerleading for next year should sign-up in the main office and pick up a packet. Tryouts are going to be June 4-6th at the middle school.

Several businesses are hiring for summer workers.

• Swings-N-Things Fun Park is now hiring for the Spring and Summer season.
• Hastings Water Works is now hiring and training lifeguards for summer employment.
Check the posted announcements for more details and the flyers posted throughout the building. If you have questions, stop in the guidance office.

Attention all athletes: Your winning season starts with a FREE sports physical! Get your by attending the 10th Annual Center of Orthopedics FREE sports physical event. It takes place on Friday, June 8 from 1:00-5:00 pm. Visit their website no later than Monday, June 4 to schedule. See the flyer for additional information.

Prom Tickets will be going on sale when we get back from Spring Break on April 9th. We will be selling tickets before school, 7th & 8th period, and after school till 3:30pm in the Concession Stand in the dining hall. In order to purchase Prom Tickets your school fees must be paid. Any questions please see Mrs. Baytos.

Last Chance to Order your Yearbook:

To guarantee your copy of this year's yearbook, your order must be received by Friday, May 25th. You can order online at jostens.com or a paper order form will be mailed with interims this week. Paper order forms are also available in all team offices.


 
Firelands

Prom is May 11th, tickets will cost $40 each, and the location is at New Russia Township Lodge, and is from 7-11pm.

Attention Seniors, stop by Mr. Jones’ room and pick up both a senior superlative form and a baby picture form. Both of these forms are due on May 11th, so make sure you stop by and pick them up today.
Also, any student still interested in ordering a yearbook, there are order forms available in Mr. Jones’ room. Order yours today for $60 before the May 4th deadline passes.

Firelands Safety Town will be held July 9, 10, and 11 this year from 9-11am
at Firelands Elementary School. Anyone wishing to help out see sign-up sheet
in the office. This is a great way to earn community service hours.


 
Keystone

Students: Just an early reminder that ALL school fees MUST be paid in full before you can purchase a PROM ticket. Prom is May 12th.

Anyone interested in being a member of the dance team next school year, there will be a meeting in room 123 after school on Thursday, May 17th. Please plan to attend.

The Academic Awards Day assembly will take place on Wednesday, May 16th. If you think you will be earning a first year, second year, third year, or fourth year award, please verify that by checking the lists that are posted in the Social Studies/Math hallway, or in the lobbies. You have until THURSDAY at 2:30 PM to bring any discrepancies to the office. Talk with your counselor or a principal if you think there is an error.

The yearbook is now accepting tributes for the class of 2018 from parents and family members. These are free to publish in the 2018 yearbook, but space is limited! Pick up a flier from Mr. Hogue or in the office for more details. Submissions will be accepted between now and May 13th or whenever all space on our pages are filled, whichever comes first.

There will be a cross-country meeting for anyone who wishes to join the team next year on Monday May 14th in Mr. Habenicht’s room after school. The meeting should last for 15 minutes.


 
Midview

The Midview Scholarship Fund Scholarship is available in Student Services. Graduating seniors who plan to attend a school accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools in the fall may apply. Applications are awarded on the basis of scholastic record, financial need, rank in scholarship tests, school and /or community involvement, and character. The grants will be at least $500 and may be renewable if standards are met. The deadline to apply is May 18th.

Juniors and seniors: Midview’s long awaited and biggest event of the year is coming up fast. The Midview Junior / Senior Prom is less than a month away. Prom tickets will go on sale starting Monday, April 23rd. This formal dinner and dance will be held on Saturday May 19th at the German-American Cultural Center in Olmsted Falls. Prom tickets will be on sale for three weeks only. Ticket prices will increase each week. The first week the tickets will be $50 each. The 2nd week they will be $55 each, and the 3rd week they will be $60 each. The absolute last day to buy a ticket is Friday, May 11th. You will be able to purchase your tickets during lunch periods or you can see Mr. T. DiFranco in Room 124 before or after school. If you are bringing a guest that does not go to Midview, then you will need to have a signed guest form before you can buy the ticket.


 
North Ridgeville

All students planning on attending prom must have their school fees paid before purchasing your promticket. This includes underclassman going with a senior. Prom ticket sales will be online this year and you will not have access to purchasing if fees are not paid.

Attention Seniors! The list of students receiving an Honors Diploma has been posted. You may view the list on the main office window and on the guidance door. This list will be posted until May 11th. It is your responsibility to check the list and if you have any questions please see your counselor.

ATHLETICS:
• Speed & Agility – Students participating in workouts with NST over the summer need to sign up in Mr. Bowman’s office. It costs $20 to be trained. Please bring money with you when signing up.

Community Service Opportunities:

Wellington students need to fill out the Random Drug Testing Consent Form, WITH PARENT SIGNATURE, if you plan on attending any Wellington High School activities for the school Year 2017-18. Forms are available in JVS Student Services and Ms. Gleason will return them to Wellington for you.
