The Lorain County JVS provides counseling services to every JVS student. Each student is assigned a counselor based on their home school residence. Counselors' assignments remain the same for the duration of a student's time at the JVS.

Counselors will help students to develop a better understanding of their abilities, attitudes, interests and responsibilities. They will help students with their educational, career-technical, or personal concerns.

Counselors are available in the Student Services Office before and after school, during study halls or lunch periods. To see a counselor during school hours, a student must obtain their teacher's permission and make an appointment. It is best to schedule the appointment during program laboratory time.

Upon entering the Student Services office area, students are required to sign in with the front desk secretary.

Students may see a counselor if they have concerns about: graduation credit requirements, scheduling, scholarships, college counseling, armed services, personal or family crisis, grief management, study skills, learning disabilities, or tutoring.

For additional information about the Student Services department view the Student Services Power Point (2.4M ppt).

To contact a counselor, call the Student Services department at 440/774-1051, ext. 2229.
