College Tech prep is a high school and college career path linked to business, industry and labor that insures a specified seamless pathway from high school to college to careers, meeting Ohio’s technological employment needs.
Allied Health Sciences is a 2-year College Tech Prep program that prepares students for a range of health care and related careers. By integrating academic and technical instruction, it better prepares the student to continue their education at a two-year college, enter a hospital sponsored nursing program or pursue a baccalaureate degree at a four-year college.
This program follows state approved Technical Standards developed by the Lorain County Tech Prep Consortium. With these guidelines and the support of Lorain County Community College, a unique high school experience will prepare the student with the needed background and skills in order to succeed in the health care field of their choice.
This program is open to all students in Lorain County with an interest in health careers. It is recommended students carry a 2.75 GPA, complete Algebra I and Biology with a “B” or better average and have passed all sections of the Ohio Graduation test by the end of the junior year. Classes meet five days a week for 150 - minute blocks, so regular attendance is extremly important. Juniors meet in the morning and seniors in the afternoon.
