Mrs. Driscoll Hospitality Service B is a one year program for eligible Seniors and is an extension of the Culinary Academy. The students in the program will gain valuable experience because they have the opportunity to practice their skills at school and establishments outside the school.
Every Monday the students travel to the Courtyard by Marriott, in North Olmsted there they work with the Marriott employees in the housekeeping, laundry, food service areas and at the front desk.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are spent working with Culinary Arts I and II in the Quarry Cafe and the Buckeye Room Restaurant. Students are involved with bussing tables, preparing food, serving beverages, operation of the pot sink and dishroom. The students also operate the grill and fryer in the junior lab and operate the laundry facility at LCJVS.
Every Friday the students participate in a volunteer experience at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria, which is a retirement/care center for senior citizens. The students practice their skills in the foodservice area and volunteer time on the nursing floors and in Day Away.
Both out of school activities are supervised by their teacher Mrs. Maurina Driscoll. Many students are offered positions at the Wesleyan Village and have been very successful.
