
March 31, 2012 -- Two North Ridgeville High School students in the Lorain County JVS satellite Marketing Program qualified to compete at the DECA International Career Development Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 28. Senior Joe Rogers and junior Katelyn Davis were among the top performers at the Ohio DECA Career Development Conference.
In addition, thirty-two Lorain County JVS/North Ridgeville High School students competed at the State conference on March 16-17, and several scored in top rankings in different events.
Joe Rogers placed fourth in the Food Marketing Individual Series event; Kaitlyn Davis placed fifth in the Human Resources Management Individual Series Event; Nick Salata earned a top ten spot in the Business Services Individual event; Erin Meinert earned a top ten spot in the Apparel and Accessories Individual Series Event; Jenna Yost and Cassie Mattix earned a top ten spot in the Hospitality Team Event; Ryan Beard and Wayne Russell were in the top ten for the Travel and Tourism Team event; and Tommy May earned a top ten spot in the Business Finance Individual Series Event.
More than 2,000 students from across the state competed in the marketing and business competition. While at the conference, students and teachers also had the opportunity to interact and network with industry professionals.
