The JVS Senior Celebration will be held on Thursday, May 29th, beginning at 9am at the Palace Theater in Lorain. Admission is by ticket only. Click below for directions and parking information.

| Students Receive Top Honors at Business Professionals of America Competition
 | | JVS Students in the Business Professionals of America | March 14, 2008 -- Lorain County JVS students received high honors at the state Business Professionals of America (BPA) Competition in Columbus. Four students received qualifying scores to advance to the National BPA Competition in Reno, Nevada in May.
Michelle Adams (Brookside), Huan Dinh (Keystone), Brittany Hicks (Midview), and Travis Williams (Amherst) will advance to the national BPA Competition in May.
The students listed below competed at the state BPA Competition.
Amherst Steele High School
Sean Davis competed in the top 10 in the Presentation Management Individual Event
Briana Palacios placed in the top 10 in the Web Design Team Event
Brookside High School
Michelle Adams placed first in the Advanced Word Processing Skills Event
Leslie Miller placed in the top 10 in the Fundamental Word Processing Event
Chanelle Williams competed in the Advanced Interview Skills Event
Clearview High School
Kevin Koziura competed in the Fundamental Accounting Event
Twylla Stone placed in the top 10 in the Basic Office Systems & Procedures Event
Columbia High School
Ashley Carter competed in the Spreadsheet Applications & Analysis Event
Elyria High School
Alison DeLapp placed in the top 10 in the Administrative Support Team Event
Stephanie Vargas competed in the Legal Office Procedures Event

Gina Dominico placed in the top 10 in the Banking & Finance Event

Alyssa Hovinetz placed in the top 10 in the Administrative Support Team Event

Brandon Brennan competed in the Spreadsheet Applications & Analysis Event
Zack Bykowicz placed in the top 10 in the PC Servicing & Troubleshooting Event
Brittany Hicks placed second in the Graphic Design Promotion Event
Kevin Rák placed in the top 10 in the Extemporaneous Speech Event
Malissa Ware competed in the Computerized Accounting Event
Tierra Wiggins competed in the Banking & Finance Event
North Ridgeville High School
Collin Gillespie placed in the top 10 in the Web Site Design Team Event
Wellington High School
Juliann Bockmore placed in the top 10 in the Basic Office Systems & Procedures Event
Erika DeArmon competed in the Medical Office Procedures Event
Tricia Wetherbee competed in the Payroll Accounting Event
Additionally, Jevon Armstrong (Keystone), Brittany Hicks (Midview) and Chanelle Williams (Brookside) will also receive their Ambassador Torch Award. The Torch Awards are given to students who have demonstrated excellence through projects, events and volunteer hours in seven different categories – leadership, service, cooperation, knowledge, friendship, love-hope-faith, and patriotism. The Torch Awards are awarded on four different levels – the Ambassador award being the highest level of achievement. These students have worked on reaching this award over the past 18 months.
The Business Professionals of America organization acts as a cohesive agent in the nation-wide networking of education, business and industry. The student organization is contributing to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills.
