December 8, 2009 -- The Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center is offering a new program for students interested in skin care. The Managing Esthetician course is a 750-hour program that trains students to perform skin analysis, facials, waxing, make-up and body treatments. Students will also be taught to use a variety of electrical machines and learn about salon management and retail sales.

In addition to career opportunities in salons and spas, students are also qualified to work for dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons. Upon course completion, students will be prepared to take the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology's exam to become a licensed esthetician. The exam fee is included in the tuition cost.

The Managing Esthetician program begins February 1, 2010 and ends November 18, 2010. The class meets from 4:30pm to 9:30pm, Monday through Thursday.

"Our goal is to offer a program for one of the fastest growing fields in the country," commented Cosmetology instructor Marge Lucas.
