The Transportation and Culinary Academies have been busy organizing and planning their College Career Days. The Transportation Academy hosted their College Career Day on October 16. Presenters included Wyoming Technical Institute, Universal Technical Institute, University of Northwestern Ohio, Lincoln Technical Institute, Ohio Technical College and Baren Institute of Technology.

The Culinary Academy will host their College Days on November 24 & 25 with the following colleges planning to attend: Johnson & Wales University, Columbus Culinary Institute, New England Institute, Pennsylvania Culinary Institute, Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Sullivan University and the University of Akron.

The first quarter will soon end on Thursday, November 6, 2008 and reports cards will be distributed to students on November 12th. Please feel free to contact your son/daughter's teacher if you have any questions or concerns from the first grading period.

Safety in our School…..

Emergency Contact Information
Each year parents are asked to complete an updated Emergency Medical form so the school has current and accurate contact information in the case of an accident or emergency. Health alerts are listed on the form for things such as allergies, diabetes, etc. If there are any changes in contact information, please call the school so we may update your child's form.

Blood Borne Pathogens
In August, all JVS staff members received directions for handling and disposing of blood borne pathogens in the classroom.

EPI Pen Training
In September, JVS staff members received training on the use of an EPI pen and the appropriate handling of anaphylactic reactions.

Evacuation Chair Training
In November, the JVS staff will be trained in the proper use of an evacuation chair. This chair would be used to assist handicapped students up and down the stairs in the case of an emergency.
