Industrial Electricity Graduates Help Build New JVS Welding & Fabrication Lab

The Lorain County JVS was a busy place this summer as four of the school's career-technical labs were being rebuilt or remodeled.

The most extensive part of the construction project was the addition of a new state-of-the-art Welding and Fabrication lab.

As the lab was being roughed in for electricity, the school's administration took great pride in knowing that four of the electricians working on the project started their careers in the Industrial Electricity Program at the Lorain County JVS.

Students Complete Successful Internship Program

Ninety-one Lorain County JVS students were recognized for their participation in the JVS Summer Youth Internship Program held in September.

Superintendent William Aubuchon commended the students for being hard working and motivated individuals who utilized the Internship as a direct pathway to additional education and training for future employment.

Culinary Students Meet in the Kitchen and on the Football Field

Three Culinary Arts students not only meet at the griddle, they meet on the gridiron too, as members of their respective high school football teams.

Joe Okes is a center and defensive tackle for the Brookside Cardinals.

Christian Luna plays wide receiver and cornerback for the undefeated Clearview Clippers.

Ethan Garofolo played offensive guard, defensive tackle for the Columbia Raiders.

Cosmetology Students Were Apple Festival Princesses

Three Lorain County JVS students competed for the title of Apple Festival Queen at the recently held community event in Elyria. All senior Cosmetology students, these princesses were judged on creative costume, poise, personality, appearance, conversational aptitude and group talent.

Principal Petitti's Parent Update

The Transportation and Culinary Academies have been busy organizing and planning their College Career Days. The Transportation Academy hosted their College Career Day on October 16. Presenters included Wyoming Technical Institute, Universal Technical Institute, University of Northwestern Ohio, Lincoln Technical Institute, Ohio Technical College and Baren Institute of Technology.

Landscape Students Visit Ohio State's ATI
Landscape & Greenhouse Management Students

Students from the JVS Landscape & Greenhouse Management Program recently visited The Ohio State University's Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) in Wooster for Horticulture Day. Students toured the facilities and were introduced to instructors who taught the following programs: Floral Design & Marketing, Greenhouse Production & Management, Landscape Contracting & Construction, Nursery Management, and Turfgrass Management.

JVS Supervisor is Named President of Ohio Trade Association

Lorain County JVS Supervisor, Jerry Pavlik, was recently elected President of the Ohio Trade and Industrial Education Supervisors Association (OTIESA). Pavlik, of Amherst, has been a Trade & Industry Supervisor at the Lorain County JVS for the past 7 years. He supervises the Manufacturing, Building Trades, and Business & Marketing Academies.
