Teachers' Association Hosts Spaghetti Dinner
The Lorain County JVS Teachers' Association will host a Spaghetti Dinner on Thursday, March 19th at the JVS. There will be two seatings. Dinners will be served from 4:00pm-5:30pm and from 6:00pm-7:30pm.
Dinners will be available for the following costs: Adults-$10.00, children ages 7 and under are free. In addition to spaghetti and meatballs, the menu will include salad, breadsticks, beverage and dessert.
Tickets can be purchased from JVS students and staff or by calling the JVS financial clerk at 440/774-1051, ext. 2275.
Funds raised from the dinner will be used for the support of student activities and scholarships.
Interactive Multimedia Students Wins Scholarship for Unique Film

Annie Beck, a student in the Interactive Multimedia Technology (IMT) Program at the Lorain County JVS, recently competed in the Pittsburgh Art Institute's "Passion for Fashion" scholarship contest.
Beck, of Amherst, produced a video for the Fashion Merchandising category promoting the idea of a retail store that sells fashionable clothing for physically challenged people. She placed 3rd in the contest and won a $1000 scholarship.
Beck noted she was inspired by her uncle who is in a wheelchair and suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic bone disease.
"I interviewed my uncle for the video I created," stated Beck. "He has a very difficult time finding clothes to fit his unique body type."
Adult Career Center Offers Continuing Education for Licensed Cosmetologists
The JVS Adult Career Center is hosting a "Day of Education" for hair, nail and skin care professionals on Sunday, March 22 from 9am to 6pm. Nine CEU Instructors will deliver 11 different classes for CEU credit and advanced education.
"The Adult Career Center's goal is to support continuing education for licensed cosmetologists," stated instructor Marge Lucas. "Our plan is to devote one day each quarter to these types of classes."

Students in the Accounting & Financial Services Program at the Lorain County JVS recently hosted an informational Financial Forum. The purpose of the forum was to help students better understand the complex issues affecting the business world today.

Job Training Students Create Quilt for Nursing Home Resident

Students in the Lorain County JVS Job Training Program designed and created patches for a quilt under the direction of their instructor, Michele Resek, an intervention specialist at the school. Resek sewed the patches into a quilt that will be given to a resident of an area nursing home.

Four Lorain County JVS senior students were selected to attend the Presidential Classroom Scholars Program in Washington, D.C.

A team of Lorain County JVS Building Trades students took first place in the regional leg of the recent International Construction Challenge in Cincinnati. The Construction Challenge is a team-based event for high school students; thirty-two teams competed from a seven-state area.
