Swine Flu Information

The health and safety of our staff and students is of the utmost importance to the administration and staff at Lorain County JVS. With the current concern over the swine flu illness that is presently occurring, I am writing to assure you that Lorain County JVS is actively monitoring the situation. To date, there have been no confirmed cases of swine flu within Lorain County JVS.

We have been in frequent contact with the Board of Health in Lorain County. Please visit www.loraincountyhealth.com or call 440.324.3177 for up-to-date, detailed information on swine flu.

As with typical influenza infections, the best protection is prevention. Please encourage your children to:

  • Cover nose and mouth when they cough or sneeze.

  • Wash hands often with soap and water, especially after they cough or sneeze.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Avoid contact with sick people.
Additionally, please be proactive about informing the school of your son/daughter's illness. As with any illness, seek medical advice from your primary care physician. We will continue to carefully monitor the situation and advise you as to any developments that directly impact Lorain County JVS. Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me or the JVS School Nurse, Linda Mahar at 440-774-1051.

Sincerely,

Jill Petitti
Principal, Lorain County JVS
