Ian Webb, a Culinary student from Avon Lake, was one of several JVS students who entered a national poetry contest sponsored by Creative Communications Inc., a publishing company located in Utah. Webb's poem was chosen from among thousands of entries to be published in a poetry anthology called "A Celebration of Poets." Webb also received a complimentary copy of the book and a $50 savings bond.

Forty-three students from the JVS wrote and submitted poems for two national contests sponsored by Creative Communications Inc. and The American Library of Poetry.
