Students Inducted into National Technical Honor Society

Business & Industry Partners Offer Grants to Manufacturing Students
The Lorain County JVS Educational Foundation has joined forces with local manufacturers to establish grants for adult and high school students enrolled in manufacturing programs.
Dan Imbrogno, President of Ohio Screw Products, and a member of the JVS Foundation Board, is the manufacturing representative spearheading the initiative.
"This grant will make funds available to students who might be struggling financially with costs for things like uniforms, tools, testing fees or tuition," stated Imbrogno.
Husband & Wife Team Credit JVS for Successful Career Start
If Cindy Willi ever opens her own beauty salon, she'll probably hang a picture of her grandmother in the waiting area.
"She was a hair stylist who loved making people feel comfortable, beautiful and special. I learned a lot from her," said Cindy, a graduate of the Lorain County JVS Cosmetology program.
"I come from a big family and my parents couldn't afford to send me to college," said Willi, "But I knew I'd get a solid education at the JVS and learn skills that would help me pay my own way to college if I wanted to go," she said.
JVS & NASA Offer Free Summer Career Camp for Students
The Lorain County JVS, NASA and Rosie's Girls are joining together to offer a free, summer career exploration program for students entering the 9th and 10th grades from the following school districts: Amherst, Avon, Avon Lake, Clearview, Columbia, Elyria, Firelands, Keystone, Midview, North Ridgeville, Oberlin, Sheffield-Sheffield Lake and Wellington.
JVS Plans Cost Saving Measures for 2012-2013 School Year
In response to the defeat of a March school levy and the reduction of 1.1 million dollars in state funds, the JVS approved its first round of cost saving measures for the upcoming school year totaling $1,227,620 to date.
Adult Career Center Instructor Honored With Living Angel Award
Marge Daidone said "something magical happens" when she can help a woman facing cancer renew her self-esteem and confidence. Daidone, a Cosmetology instructor for the JVS Adult Career Center and cosmetologist who works in Lorain, spoke minutes after receiving this year's Living Angel Award Saturday evening during the American Cancer Society's 26th annual Life Savers Ball. The annual event took place at DeLuca's Place in the Park in Lorain.
Character Education Program Helps Culinary Students Build Positive Identity
Students in the JVS Culinary Academy are involved in a year-long character education program designed to help build positive student identity. The program focuses on the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
JVS Students Collect Jeans for Homeless Teens
Lorain County JVS Early Childhood Education students participated in a "Teens for Jeans" national blue jean drive in partnership with Aeropostale stores around the country. The students collected hundreds of pairs of jeans during their campaign which they delivered to the Aeropostale store located at Crocker Park in Westlake.
