What is JVS Healthy Restart?
JVS Healthy Restart is the Lorain County JVS' plan to safely resume high school classes for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.

What does the new schedule look like?
As of July 28, 2020, our plan is to divide students into two cohorts. The first group will attend the JVS in person on Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday. The second group will attend the JVS in person on Thursday, Friday, and every other Wednesday. This allows us to socially distance students while still providing an essential hands-on experience. Download the current schedule for specific details.

Are there virtual options?
Parents may choose a virtual option for their child's academic classes only. As a career-technical high school, it is critical that our students have in-person and hands-on time in their labs. If you choose the virtual option for academic classes, please fill out this form and return it to [email protected]

How are you keeping students and staff safe?
The health and safety of our students and staff was the number one factor when we created this plan. Before coming to the building, everyone is required to complete the Daily Health Assessment. If you answer yes to any of the questions, DO NOT come to the building.

Everyone in the building is required to wear a face mask or face shield. Hand sanitizer stations have been installed throughout the building, along with signage reminding everyone to wash their hands frequently and thoroughly. Along with dividing our students into two smaller groups, we are spacing out workstations and desks as much as possible to allow for proper social distancing.

We are cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas frequently. Certain areas, such as lockers and cafeterias, will have limited to no access to keep individuals from congregating in groups.

Our full plan is detailed in the JVS Health Restart document.

How was this plan made?
We worked directly with the Lorain County Board of Health and the Ohio Department of Education to develop the best guidelines for a healthy educational experience for our students. We also gathered input from parents, students, and businesses in our community since a well-rounded plan is important to us.

How can I get updates?
We all know that plans can change quickly during this pandemic. Check this webpage for the latest information.  If new instructions are issued by Governor DeWine or the Lorain County Health Department, we will be sending update notifications out to staff, parents, and students using the email address(es) we have on file. Please Contact Us if you need to make changes.
