Adult Career Center

Employment Services

The Career Services Office acts as the liaison between JVS students and employers. Because of the strong partnerships that exist between the JVS and the business/industry community, students will have the opportunity to experience the world of work while taking courses at the JVS Adult Career Center. Exposure to the work culture helps JVS students make better decisions about their futures and are better prepared to meet the demands of an ever changing workforce.

Career Consultation

The Career Services Office conducts a number of Job Search Workshops throughout the year. They also provide one on one career consultations with adult education students. Career Services staff also assists students with updating their resumes and career portfolios.

Work-Based Learning Experiences

  • Students receive short-term paid and unpaid work experience 
  • Students get an opportunity to utilize the career related skills they have learned at the JVS Adult Career Center
  • Students acquire new training in a professional workplace
  • Employers can assess a student’s skills, work ethic and employment potential

Job Placement Services

  • JVS students are placed with employers within their career path
  • Skilled students meet the needs of participating employers
  • JVS students, in full-time career development programs, are available for job placement during their 2nd semester of training

Online Job Services

  • The Lorain County JVS Career Services Office provides a free online job posting (board) system located on the school’s website, www.lcjvs.com, that enables local businesses/employers an opportunity to post job openings
  • JVS staff maintains the ongoing database of available employment postings
  • Current students and JVS Alumni also have access to job postings under the employment tab on the JVS website
