Medical Assisting

State-of-the-Art Medical Lab! Medical Assisting is one of the fastest-growing allied health careers that offer wonderful opportunities for advancement. The CMA (AAMA) credential is a central key component in this advancement. The LCJVS Adult Career Center’s Medical Assisting Program focuses on hands-on learning experience. Students are introduced to real time electronic health record. Learn and use medical terminology when interacting with patients and doctors while maintaining legal and ethical boundaries. Build on skills week to week achieving competency in areas covered on the CMA exam. Additionally, earn CPR/ First Aid certification and learn concepts while performing treatments and lab procedures. Students will put their skills to the test utilizing anatomy and physiology, and pathophysiology in solving problems using critical thinking skills. Students will be assigned to an ambulatory health center with an instructor to enhance and develop clinical and administrative skills learned in the classroom. A 200-hour non-paid, supervised Practicum experience completes the program where students learn to be a team player in a multidisciplinary atmosphere.

The Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center’s Medical Assisting program in maintaining CAAHEP accreditation has a retention rate of 100% and a placement rate of 83.33%. This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) 25400 US Highway 19 Clearwater Florida 33763, 727-210-2350, www.caahep.org on recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB). College credit is available upon successful completion of the program and passage of the CMA (AAMA) exam. Books, uniforms, and test fees are extra. Class size limited to 25 students.
