Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center Students Receive Recognition

The Hampson Family Foundation Scholarship RecipientsThe 2018 Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center Recognition Ceremony was held on the campus of the JVS on Wednesday, June 13th, with students receiving career-technical certificates in their respective fields.

Dr. Glenn Faircloth, Superintendent of Lorain County JVS, had many accolades for the Adult Education graduates. “Today, we celebrate your hard work as you embark on pursuing your dreams, goals and careers. The knowledge and skills you’ve gained will take you as far as you want to go.” Students from the Auto Technology, Cosmetology, Dental Assisting, Emergency Medical Technician, Esthetician, Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy Technician, Precision Machine Technology, State Tested Nurse Aide, and Welding Fabrication programs were recognized for their accomplishments during the evening ceremony.

Kristian Smith, Director of the JVS Adult Career Center, spoke about success, a theme that kept coming up throughout the evening’s ceremony. “Passion is a key factor of success. If you look at any successful chef, teacher, mechanic, welder or any other true master of their craft, you will see that they all have passion.”

Each year, the Lorain County JVS Educational Foundation provides the Adult Career Center the opportunity to award deserving students with scholarships. The Hampson Family Foundation Scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding performance and dedication in their programs. This year’s scholarship recipients who are receiving $300 each are; Nathan Smith, Automotive Technology; Larry Westover, Precision Machine Technology; Aidan Rivera; Cosmetology; Asia Chisholm, Phlebotomy Technician; and Kristen Stout, Emergency Medical Technician.

In addition, the John L. Kopronika Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Aline Milbaugh, Welding Fabrication student in the amount of $250.00

To close the ceremony, Smith left the graduate with these parting words. “I hope you had a great experience here at Lorain County JVS, and you either found a passion, or enhanced an existing passion. Congratulations!”
