Free Program Helps Students Get Their High School Diploma and an Industrial Credential

The JVS Adult Career Center is offering the Adult Diploma Program, which allows students 22 and over an opportunity to receive their high school diploma and an industrial credential in five selected programs. Watch a video about the ADP program here.

Made possible through state funding, 32 students completed the Adult Diploma Program in 2018-19 receiving certifications for State Tested Nurse Aide (19), Phlebotomy (9), and Precision Machine Technology (2). This fall the Adult Career Center has added a Collision Repair and Manicurists program. Students will be required to take the Workkeys assessment upon enrollment.

“We are looking for serious students who are looking for second chance,” said Kristian Smith, Director of the Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center. “Prospective students will not only be enrolled for free, but will receive support, guidance and motivation to help them complete the program and secure employment, and a career.”

Recent ADP graduate Jody Binggell said her journey to success had been a long time coming. “It took me 19 years to get my high school diploma. I have my State Tested Nurse Aide certification now, and I am going back for phlebotomy.”

ADP graduate Brittany Ogletree said she wanted to be her daughter’s role model. I know how good it feels not to give up. Now, the sky is the limit.”
