Job Description – Packaging/Production Supervisor
Job Title: Packaging/Production Supervisor
Department: Packaging/Production
Reporting: Plant Manager

Job Summary:
Hands on supervision of the packaging and/or production activities including the operation of standard or specialized designed equipment to package bread and rolls products. Responsible for meeting packaging/production order sheets, line speed standards, cost targets and quality standards. Trains and appraises the performance ability of subordinates. Plans shift schedule. This is a first line packaging supervisory position and generally supervises a crew of 15 to 20 workers on a shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Meet with the packaging and/or production supervisor from the prior shift to establish any production problems, schedule changes, personnel shortages, product counts, etc. this should also be done at shift end with the incoming packaging supervisor.
• Immediately report to maintenance any malfunctioning equipment.
• Report to maintenance any machine guards, which are not properly secured, or missing.
• Availability of proper supplies bags, boxes, quick locks, etc. throughout the shift.
• Assign the availability of personnel throughout the shift to meet the production schedule.
• Assist in the discipline of personnel.
• Training and recommendation or advancement within the company of immediate subordinates.
• Attend and participate in posted company meetings.
• Assist in performance reviews of subordinates.
• Review and recommend to Quality Assurance any changes to procedural charts, which are posted.
• Monitor subordinates so as to maintain posted company procedures and policies, which meet the company’s quality standards.
• Enforce and maintain the HAACP policy.
• Assist in subordinate’s accident investigation. Fill out a supervisor’s accident report for a subordinate’s accident within 24 hours of the reported accident.
• Adhere and maintain OSHA standards.
• Adhere to company sanitation procedures throughout the shift.
• Maintain and promote all pertinent company and union rules.
• Maintain in strict confidence any medical records or information of subordinates.
• Properly maintain the company attendance control policy.

Supervisor Responsibilities:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees planning, assigning and directing work appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
• A 4-year degree in business management or a related field from an accredited college or university is helpful but not required.
