  • Responsibilities / Skills Needed: Are you an enthusiastic and friendly person that loves working with diverse groups of people in a natural outdoor setting? Day Camp Counselors are the primary caregivers for each camper and responsible for the well-being of an assigned group of campers, guiding them through daily activities and fostering a sense of cooperation, respect, and community.

    Lead, Supervise, and Direct an assigned group of 10 – 15 campers through environmentally-based, non-competitive team building and recreational activities for a diverse camper population.

    Create, Submit, Implement, and Review lesson plans including rainy day activities as required by the Supervision Team.

    Assist and Co-Facilitate programs with areas that are directed by Camp Specialists.

    Lead campers in your assigned group from one Specialty Area/Activity to the next ensuring a safe and timely transition.

    Maintain high standards of health, security, and good judgement in all activities for campers, families, and staff.

    Provide the daily care of each camper in your assigned group including personal health needs medications and assist with personal/health concerns. Immediately notifying the Supervision Team of any situations you are unable to handle.
    Know where each camper in your assigned group is, what s/he is doing, and ensure they’re supervised at all times.

    Be alert and adhere to proper utilization, care, and maintenance of equipment and facilities. Report repairs needed promptly to Supervision Team.

    Represent Common Ground and be a role model to campers, families, and staff in your attitude and behavior.

    Follow and uphold all safety and security rules, policies, and procedures.
    Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and respect.

    Provide parents appropriate feedback and information as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience.

    Follow safety and security protocols when campers are in public while presenting a positive image of the camp.
