Mrs. Eland - Intervention Students

Welcome parents and students. My name is Laura Eland, and I have been an Intervention Specialist with the Lorain County JVS for over 10 years. My classroom is located in B218 (behind the school store), and I am available to help provide academic support to students.
If I am the your child's Intervention Specialist, which would be indicated on his/her schedule, I will be responsible for writing your son/daughter's annual Individualized Education Plan (IEP) this school year, and I will be reporting on the progress of goals each quarter. Most importantly, I'll be available to help ensure your child's success and access to accommodations. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns. When you contact me by email, I will respond as quickly as I am able to your concerns.

Power School

The JVS has parent access set up in PowerSchool, the school's online gradebook software. A letter was given to parents as part of the orientation materials in August, with directions to set up access to your student's information. I encourage parents to check their student's progress in each class.
Teachers should be updating their grade books on a weekly basis. Generally, no news is good news. Your son/daughter has also been given access to PowerSchool. I have found that students who monitor their own progress on a regular basis are more likely to earn higher grades. I also believe that self monitoring teaches responsibility and accountability.
All of the JVS teachers have email accounts that are comprised of the teacher's first initial and last name at Don't hesitate to contact your student's teacher directly if you have questions or concerns with a specific class. If you are not aware of the teacher's first name or the spelling of their last name, each teacher has an email link from their name on the PowerSchool schedule.
