High-Tech Learning Opportunity for Industrial Equipment Mechanics Students

Students in the Industrial Equipment Mechanics (IEM) Program have an exceptional opportunity to be trained on a very hi-tech piece of agriculture equipment, thanks to the partnership and generosity of the Wellington Implement Company.

Tom Stannard, General Manager of Wellington Implement, delivered a Case IH Farmall 140A tractor to the JVS IEM students, who will have the opportunity to learn on this hi-tech piece of machinery for this school year.

“Obviously the school can’t afford to go out and buy brand new equipment every year, so with the partnership with Case IH, they allow us to place equipment like this in programs like this one so the students can get familiar with some of the newer equipment,” said Stannard.

“This is important to my business, because we hope some of these students will come work for us one day, and the more exposure they have to the newer technology, the better it is for us all.”

Thomas Reese, Industrial Equipment Mechanics junior from Avon Lake, was at the JVS as a sophomore and felt the diversity of this program would give him the advantage he is looking for. “I’m excited for this tractor because last year I saw the tractor that was donated and now I have the chance to work on this one.”

Stannard shared what he hopes the students will learn on this piece of equipment throughout the year, “We want them to get up in the cab and become familiar with the electronic controls and control systems, read the operators manual and learn how to properly operate the machine, and how to prep it for use.”

Mason Bremke, Industrial Equipment Mechanics Instructor and 2011 graduate of the same program, looks forward to this donation each year. “It is always great to have something like this for the kids to work on. It shows them what is really out in the field, the latest and greatest, and all of the cutting edge technology. We can’t thank Wellington Implement enough for their support and partnership.”
