JVS Food Drive Provides Thousands of Meals

JVS students and staff collected over six thousand pounds of food in their Annual VYC (Vocational Youth Council) Second Harvest Food Drive.

Senior students in the Industrial Equipment Mechanics program donated the most pounds of food, 1,344.6 pounds to be exact, and will be rewarded with a class pizza party later this month.

Food donations were also collected during the annual JVS Craft Show in October.

Being able to give back to those in need in the local community means a lot to the JVS community. Students shared how they feel everyone should have food on their table, especially during the holidays.

This year’s drive was hosted by the SkillsUSA and FFA groups of the JVS. These groups worked the donation tables before school and during lunch periods and also weighed the food each day.
