Students Excel at Regional SkillsUSA Competition

Alex Jutte (North Ridgeville) competes in the Carpentry event, where he earned a silver medal

Eight JVS students will be advancing to the State SkillsUSA Competition in Columbus to be held in April. These JVS students earned this honor by receiving top ratings in the North Central Regional SkillsUSA Competitions held recently at the Ohio Carpenters’ Joint Apprenticeship & Training Center (Richfield), Medina County Career Center (Medina) and Ohio Technical College (Cleveland). The JVS students advancing to the next level of the competition are listed by school district below:

FIRELANDS
Logan Ramsey, Carpentry senior, received a gold medal in the Teamworks event

MIDVIEW
Jared Wendell, Engineering Design Technology senior, received a gold medal in Architectural Drafting

NORTH RIDGEVILLE
Mark Lengauer, Carpentry junior, Darren Lightner, Heating & Air Conditioning junior, and Caleb Roberts, Masonry Trades junior all received a gold medal in the Teamworks event; Alex Jutte, Carpentry senior, earned a silver medal in the Carpentry event; Julie Taylor, Collision Repair senior, earned a silver medal in the Automotive Refinishing event

WELLINGTON
Jessica Davis, Carpentry junior, received a gold in the Customer Service event

In addition, many other students will be travelling to Columbus in their straight-to-state competitive events not held at the regional level.   

Also, a special congratulations to John Pando, Industrial Electricity junior from Amherst, and Veronica Haught, Public Safety junior from Midview, for organizing and presenting the Awards Ceremony at the Regional event. They did an outstanding job as Regional Officers!
