Lorain County JVS proudly announces that Chef Jordan Krystowski, Culinary Arts instructor and LCJVS alumnus, has been named 2024 Chef Educator of the Year Award by the American Culinary Federation (ACF).
Chef Krystowski, who has served as a Culinary Arts educator for the past six years, leads the ACF-accredited Culinary Arts program at Lorain County JVS. Under her leadership, students gain industry-recognized certifications, including the Certified Fundamental Cook credential, and benefit from hands-on learning experiences that set the foundation for successful careers in the culinary industry.
“Chef Krystowski’s dedication to her students and passion for culinary excellence are truly inspiring,” said LCJVS Principal Tina Pelto. “Her emphasis on hands-on learning and industry-relevant skills empowers our students to excel in their chosen paths and prepares them for success in the culinary field.”
A member of the Ohio FCCLA Career Development Events Committee since 2022, Chef Krystowski has consistently demonstrated her dedication to continuous program improvement and culinary education. Her mentorship has led students to compete and excel on national stages. In 2023 and 2024, she coached students to SkillsUSA and FCCLA national competitions, with a student earning a second-place finish at nationals.
Beyond competitions, Chef Krystowski enriches her students’ learning through guest chef demonstrations and community engagement. From a three-day whole hog breakdown to a specialty diets demo, her efforts expose students to diverse culinary practices. Her students have also participated in ACF meetings, community outreach events, and fundraisers.
“Chef Krystowski exemplifies the impact of dedicated educators in shaping the next generation of professionals,” said Dr. Glenn Faircloth, LCJVS Superintendent. “Her recognition by the ACF underscores her role as a leader not only in our school but in the broader culinary community. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments.”
In addition to teaching, Chef Krystowski has made notable appearances at community events, such as presenting fresh ravioli and hummus demonstrations. She also organized a successful Pierogi Fundraiser with her senior class, showcasing her ability to blend education with community engagement.
Chef Krystowski holds a bachelor’s degree in education and actively pursues professional development through initiatives such as the ACF Educators Summit, earning credits toward licensure. Her achievements have also been recognized with several accolades, including the ACF President’s Award in 2023.
