LCJVS Excels on Ohio School Report Card, Exceeding State Standards in Multiple Categories

Lorain County JVS has once again demonstrated its commitment to academic and career excellence, earning a 4.5-star overall rating on the latest Ohio School Report Card. The report, released by the Ohio Department of Education, evaluates schools across the state on a variety of measures that reflect both academic achievement and career readiness. LCJVS surpassed state benchmarks in several key areas, confirming its role as a leader in career-technical education.
 
“We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, and the entire LCJVS community,” said Tina Pelto, principal of LCJVS. “The results of the Ohio School Report Card highlight the incredible efforts we’ve made to ensure that our students are meeting state standards and exceeding them. The success of our students is the driving force behind everything we do, and this report card is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion present in every classroom.”
 
Key Highlights from the LCJVS Ohio School Report Card:
  • Overall Rating: LCJVS received a 4.5-star rating, exceeding state standards in overall performance. This rating places LCJVS among the top-performing career-technical schools in the state.
  • Achievement: The school earned 3 stars in the achievement component, which measures the skills and knowledge students gain in their career-technical programs and their performance on Ohio’s State Tests. This reflects a solid effort to meet state standards for both technical and academic achievements.
  • Graduation Rate: LCJVS received an outstanding 5 stars in this category, which evaluates the percentage of students completing high school with a diploma within four or five years. The school significantly exceeded state standards in graduation rates, affirming its commitment to ensuring student success and diploma attainment.
  • Career & Post-Secondary Readiness: In the readiness component, which assesses how well-prepared students are for life beyond high school—whether entering the workforce, pursuing further education, or undergoing technical training—LCJVS earned 4 stars, again exceeding state standards. This achievement showcases the comprehensive preparation students receive for future opportunities.
  • Post-Program Outcomes: LCJVS achieved the highest possible rating in post-program outcomes, with 5 stars. This component evaluates how well students transition after completing high school, whether through employment, apprenticeships, military service, or further education within six months of graduation. The school significantly surpassed state standards in this area, underscoring the effectiveness of its career-technical programs.
 
Superintendent Dr. Glenn Faircloth expressed pride in the school's performance, noting the importance of maintaining high standards in career-technical education. “At LCJVS, we strive to equip students with the skills they need to thrive in the workforce or pursue higher education,” said Dr. Faircloth. “Our 5-star ratings in graduation and post-program outcomes demonstrate the critical impact we have on students’ lives, not just while they’re here but long after graduation. These results confirm that we’re setting the bar for what career-technical education should look like.”
 
Cynthia Andrews, President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Lorain County, expressed her enthusiasm for the impact Lorain County JVS has on the community. "We are excited to have so many community resources, including LCJVS, assisting so many of our students and adults in the community explore careers that they may not have been familiar with.  I am always excited to meet our students locally and across the country who started their journey at Lorain County JVS. “The state report card for the Lorain County JVS, clearly shows that students are being trained to enter the workforce upon graduation in areas that are critical to our society,” said Rex Engle, Board President for Lorain County JVS.  “The jobs are well-paying positions and graduates are being recruited for the skill set they have learned.”
