The 2020 Lorain County JVS Senior Recognition Ceremony was virtually held on Friday, May 15th, with 364 students receiving career-technical certificates in their respective fields. Thirty two students were selected as Outstanding Seniors in their programs, and twenty seven students were awarded $65,500 in local scholarships.

Career Based Intervention student, Corey Helmlin (Keystone) performed the national anthem on his guitar from home to begin the ceremony.

“Certainly this is not the ceremony we would like for our graduates, but let’s look at this in a positive manner,” said JVS Superintendent Dr. Glenn Faircloth. “COVID19 has changed our lives forever, but how we deal with this will make us stronger. Just think Class of 2020 the story you will be able to tell. You are so inspirational to your family, friends and to us here at JVS. We are proud of you and we celebrate you.”

“Despite everything that has happened this year, you are graduating,” JVS High School Principal said with a smile. “You have earned your Career-Technical Certificates and you will go on to college, into the military, and into your chosen career paths.  This speaks to your resiliency. Congratulations Class of 2020 -- I can’t wait to see what you will do next!”

Logan Ramsey from the Carpentry program, was the senior speaker and shared words of encouragement to his classmates. “We are doing what we love and the trades have become our passions, our hobbies, and what makes us feel good. Every day is a different challenge, we get to use our hands and our minds to solve problems and be creative.
