A team of four Lorain County JVS Web and Graphic Design seniors is heading to the Business Professional of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA this April. These students and twenty-four of their peers competed at the state level in Columbus.

The team consisting of Gabrielle Kalin (Columbia), Sadie Willis (Wellington), Emily Stonestreet (Midview), and Grace Gilles (Firelands), competed in the Virtual Branding Team event, and have been hard at work for months preparing for the competition.

Tina Krosse, Lorain County JVS Web and Graphic Design instructor and BPA advisor, shared her excitement for her four students moving on to the next level of competition. “These students worked on this contest in December through mid-January giving up their study halls and having working lunches to complete all the items necessary.”

Krosse explained the contest more in-depth and shared what her students needed to do to prepare. “Marketing in today’s world focuses on the combination of digital design, social media, virtual mockups, and engaging multimedia experiences. The virtual branding team event had the students contracted to promote a three-day Comic Con. They will set up a 6-foot table at the national competition and pass out promotional material for the Comic Con event.”

At the state-level competition, junior and senior students from the Lorain County JVS Cybersecurity and Networking, Digital Media Arts, Marketing and Entrepreneurship, and Web and Graphic Design programs competed in various events that included interview skills, desktop publishing, podcast production, and more.
