Students Advance to State Healthcare Competition

Nine students advance to the HOSA State competition in March!

Lorain County JVS students in the Allied Health Sciences and Sports, Health and Fitness Technology programs competed at the HOSA – Future Health Professionals regional competition. 
 
Nine students placed in the top four in their events and will advance to the State competition being held in Columbus in mid-March.
 
Jason Christner, Lorain County JVS Sports, Health and Fitness Technology instructor, shared how proud he is of all the students that competed. “It was a tough competition, but our students worked really hard to prepare and the results showed.  Now they get to go compete against some of the best students in the state for a chance to go to the International Convention this summer in Houston.  I couldn’t be prouder!”
 
The students who are advancing to the state competition, their event, and the place they were awarded are listed below by their associate school.
 
Elyria
Tatum Porter, Allied Health Sciences junior, placed 3rd in the Health Education event.
 
Keystone
Helayna Houston, Sports, Health and Fitness Technology junior, placed 3rd in the First Aid/CPR event; Lea Stumphauzer, Sports, Health and Fitness Technology junior, placed 4th in the Health Career Display event.
 
Midview
Colt Duke, Sports, Health and Fitness Technology junior, placed 4th in the First Aid/CPR event.
 
Oberlin
Marianna Frank, Allied Health Sciences junior, placed 3rd in the Health Education event; Quinn Jackson, Sports, Health and Fitness Technology junior, placed 4th in the First Aid/CPR event.
 
Wellington
Myranda Sickels, Sports, Health and Fitness Technology junior, placed 3rd in the First Aid/CPR; Joyce Stallard, Allied Health Sciences junior, placed 4th in the Nursing Assisting event; Kierstin Taylor, Sports, Health and Fitness Technology junior, placed 4th in the Health Career Display event.
