As part of the 2023 Lorain County JVS Summer Internship Program, 99 students completed the program earning over $380,000.  Eighty-three local companies employed interns, providing mentoring and opportunities for students to practice the technical skills they learned at Lorain County JVS.

This year’s class was celebrated in front of family, friends, and employers, in a recognition ceremony on the evening of Thursday, September 28th.

Cody Hart, a Heating and Air Conditioning senior from North Ridgeville, spoke at the event, sharing his experience with QSR Executive Enterprises, which owns and operates local quick-service restaurants in our local communities. “Working alongside the skilled technicians gave me a sneak peek at the challenges they face each day. Those challenges taught me how to be calm in difficult and stressful situations. My internship also opened my eyes to a lot of new features and technologies in the field, which got me excited to learn even more about HVAC.”

The Summer Internship Program is an opportunity available to junior students who have completed their first year of career-technical training, and who have superior attendance and strong teacher recommendations. This experience extends student learning beyond the classroom and provides students with real-world work experience. Students can interact with company mentors and develop a direct pathway to additional education, training, or future employment.

“This celebration tonight is a testament to our community and the employers that hire our students,” said Dr. Glenn Faircloth, Lorain County JVS superintendent. “These students are the future of our community, and we thank your business partners for their continued support of our programs.”
