A special celebration took place on the evening of May 10 at the Lorain County JVS to recognize and announce this year’s local scholarship recipients. Thirty-two students were awarded $39,500 in scholarship money.
Lorain County JVS School Counselor, Shannon Meadows, announced the scholarship recipients at the event. “In total, because of many generous Lorain County citizens and groups who believe in our school and its students, the Lorain County JVS has been able to award $39,500 tonight. Students, I know you must feel extremely grateful to have received these scholarships. Congratulations, and all the best for a very bright future!”
The top scholarship recipient of the night was Aniya Qualls, a Cybersecurity and Networking senior from Midview, who received a total of $8,000 in scholarships.

Naudia Balek, Teacher Education Exploration senior, is the recipient of the William R. Burton Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500.

Alexis Herwig, Culinary Arts senior, is the recipient of the Pam Faragher Memorial Culinary Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.
Maya Koeth, Teacher Education Exploration senior, is the recipient of the Julie L. Hogan Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $2,000.
