JVS Alumni Receive FFA Awards

Thomas and William Keller (Midview) proudly smile with their awards

Two alumni of the Lorain County JVS FFA Chapter, Thomas and William Keller, were recently presented with FFA Agricultural Proficiency Awards. These awards are given to members who have developed specialized skills that they can apply towards their future careers.

Tommy placed first in state in Diversified Horticulture and Billy placed second in the state in Diversified Horticulture and third in Turf Grass Management.

The Keller brothers are both 2019 Midview graduates, completers of the JVS Landscape and Greenhouse Management program and recently completed internships at Morton’s Landscape in Columbia Station.

“I knew when I met Tommy in his freshmen year and Billy in his sophomore year that these two were going to be something special,” said Beth Berthold, JVS landscape and greenhouse management instructor and FFA advisor. “It's rare that you get students that are so dedicated, hardworking, and nice.  They have exceeded my expectations and I am certain they will continue to do this in the future.  I am so happy they both were rewarded with the well-deserved recognition of their hard work”

Both young men are attending Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute. Tommy is studying landscape horticulture, while Billy is studying construction management.
