Lorain County JVS High School has recently been recognized as one of the 73 semi-finalists in the prestigious Career Z Challenge, earning a $20,000 cash prize through The U.S. Department of Education. This award is a testament to the school’s unwavering commitment to expanding work-based learning opportunities for Generation Z, positioning its students at the forefront of tomorrow’s workforce. 


A Commitment to Future Leaders and Innovators 

Megan Champagne, Associate Principal at Lorain County JVS, expressed her pride in the school’s achievement: “Being named a semi-finalist in the Career Z Challenge is a tremendous honor and reflects our deep commitment to providing our students with real-world experiences that prepare them for success in their careers. This recognition validates our efforts to ensure that every student at Lorain County JVS can thrive in a dynamic and ever-changing job market.”

The $20,000 award will be utilized to further enhance Lorain County JVS’s work-based learning initiatives, providing students with more hands-on experiences that bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application. Michelle McClintic, High School Supervisor at Lorain County JVS, highlighted the importance of this funding: “This award will allow us to expand our work-based learning opportunities, giving more students the chance to engage directly with industry professionals and gain invaluable insights into their future careers. It’s about more than just learning technical skills; it’s about building a foundation for lifelong success.”
