Four Lorain County JVS Public Safety seniors recently obtained their Firefighter II Certification. “The students worked extremely hard over the last year in a demanding program, while tackling all of the challenges the pandemic has thrown their way,” said Brandon Kushinski, Lorain County JVS Public Safety program supervisor.

“The students completed over two hundred fifty hours of the Firefighter I and II curriculum as prescribed by the Ohio Department of Public Safety and passed both a skills practical and written exam.”

Firefighter II is the highest level of firefighter certification available in Ohio. The Firefighter II certification is typically required for career firefighters in the State of Ohio.

The four students that achieved this certification are Jordan Sarver from Brookside, Joshua Luke from Midview, Makenna Sedlak from North Ridgeville, and William Schum from Avon Lake

Gerald Peters, Lorain County JVS Public Safety instructor shared how proud he is of his students. “This is quite an accomplishment and a true testament to their dedication to public safety and serving others.”
