Sixteen students from Lorain County JVS participated in the SkillsUSA State Competition in Columbus, the first in-person competition for the students in three years.
Benjamin Shaw, a Carpentry junior from North Ridgeville, placed first in the Cabinetmaking event and earned a spot at the SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia in June.
“Our students worked hard to earn a place at state, and I am proud of how they represented Lorain County JVS,” said Michelle McClintic, Lorain County JVS supervisor. “Congratulations to all of our competitors.”
Gavin Lee, Precision Machine Technology senior from Keystone, earned a silver 2nd place medal in the CNC Turning event.
The national conference will bring more than 6,500 career and technical education students together to compete in hands-on events in 108 different trade and leadership fields.
The Lorain County JVS students and the state-level events they competed in are listed below by their associate school.
