Expanding the Talent Pipeline and Fueling Workforce Exposure

Lorain County JVS is proud to introduce Career Tech X, a new summer initiative designed to support students who benefit from individualized learning experiences as they explore career-technical education and in-demand career pathways.
Program Details
The program will run June 9–12, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lorain County JVS, located at 15181 State Route 58 in Oberlin.
Career Tech X is open to students ages 14 and older who receive educational support services through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504 Plan, or similar accommodations.
Pathways and Skill Building
Over the course of four days, students will rotate through immersive sessions in five career pathways: Agriculture and Sustainability, Micro-Business, Construction Services, Manufacturing, and Allied Health. In addition to gaining exposure to different industries, participants will build foundational technical and employability skills, develop a sense of responsibility, and begin thinking critically about their futures.
Expanding Access and Opportunity
“Career Tech X represents a meaningful step forward in expanding access to career-technical education,” said Michelle McClintic, Supervisor at Lorain County JVS. “This program is about more than exploring careers—it’s about creating a space where students of all abilities can build confidence, discover their strengths, and see themselves in a future they’re excited about.”
Registration Requirements
Career Tech X is offered in partnership with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD). To participate, students must be enrolled in OOD services. If a student does not currently have an open case, families are encouraged to contact Sha-Niqua Matthews, Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor with OOD, to initiate the process.
