Lorain County JVS Earns 5-Star State Report Card, Fueling Workforce Readiness Amid County Growth

Lorain County JVS is proud to announce it has earned an overall 5-Star rating on the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce’s State Report Card. This prestigious rating reflects the district’s commitment to academic excellence, workforce readiness, and innovative career-technical education (CTE) pathways.

This achievement builds on last year’s 4.5-star performance and places Lorain County JVS among the top-performing CTE districts in Ohio, reinforcing its role as a critical partner in Lorain County’s population growth and economic development.

Excellence in Career-Technical Education

The State Report Card evaluates Ohio’s career-technical districts across four major categories. Lorain County JVS earned top marks in nearly every area:

  • Achievement
    The Achievement component measures the skills and knowledge learned in students’ career-technical programs using aligned technical assessments and academic achievement on Ohio’s State Tests.

    Exceeds state standards in technical and academic achievement

  • Graduation Rate
    The Graduation Rate component looks at the percent of students who successfully finish high school with a diploma in four or five years.

  • Career & Post-Secondary Readiness
    Whether training in a technical field or preparing for work or college, this component measures how well-prepared Ohio’s students are for all future opportunities.

  • Post-Program Outcomes
    This component measures the proportion of students employed, in apprenticeships, the military, service programs, or enrolled in postsecondary education or advanced training within six months of graduation. It also accounts for industry credentials earned before graduation or within six months after leaving school.
