High School Applications Surge: Lorain County JVS Harnesses Increased Visibility and Partnerships

Applications for the 2026–27 school year are already pouring in, signaling extraordinary demand for programs that align education, industry, and workforce development in ways that transform lives and strengthen Lorain County’s economic future—and beyond.
Early Demand Reflects Growing Momentum
Within weeks of opening the application window, hundreds of students from Lorain County’s 13 partner school districts have already applied to join Lorain County JVS.
This unprecedented early interest reflects a clear shift in perception—families and students now see Lorain County JVS as the launchpad for college, career, and life success.
“We are seeing a wave of excitement across Lorain County,” said Megan Champagne, Lorain County JVS High School Principal. “Our students are making powerful choices—they want skills that matter, credentials that count, and a direct connection to real careers. The demand tells us families trust the direction we’re heading.”
Proven Excellence: A 5-Star School Driving Regional Impact
Lorain County JVS recently earned a 5-star overall rating on the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce’s State Report Card—one of the highest recognitions a district can achieve.
The rating underscores exceptional performance in Achievement, Graduation Rate, Career & Post-Secondary Readiness, and Post-Program Outcomes—evidence that LCJVS is setting the standard for career-technical education statewide.
“Earning a five-star rating is about more than scores—it’s about purpose and partnership,” said Dr. Glenn Faircloth, Superintendent and CEO of Lorain County JVS. “Our success reflects the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the shared belief across Lorain County that education and industry must work hand in hand to build a strong future.”
Work-Based Learning: Measurable Success and Employer Confidence
This fall, LCJVS celebrated its annual Summer Internship Dinner, where 140 high-school interns and more than 100 employer partners came together to celebrate their impact.
Collectively, students completed over 40,000 hours of work-based learning, earning more than $575,000 in wages and gaining real-world experience across Lorain County.
Employer surveys following the event reported an outstanding Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 80, confirming strong partner satisfaction and confidence in JVS students’ professionalism, skill readiness, and work ethic.
“Our students are proving every day that they are workforce-ready,” said Dr. Brandon Kushinski, Associate Principal of Lorain County JVS. “The level of employer engagement, student enthusiasm, and measurable success demonstrates how education and opportunity are truly aligning in Lorain County.”

Lorain County JVS’s success is resonating far beyond its classrooms. With increased visibility across Northeast Ohio, LCJVS is now recognized as a regional leader in aligning education, industry, and economic development. Through partnerships with Team NEO, Lorain County Community College, One Lorain County, Aerozone Alliance, and the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, LCJVS continues to strengthen the regional talent pipeline.
