Customized Programs for Business/Industry or Contracted Training Courses
These courses are customized or contracted for business/industry based on the need of a group only; there is no individual open enrollment for these courses.  For more information about any of the Public Safety offerings and/or to customize or contact a training program, contact Scott Kaminski at [email protected] or 440.774.1051, Ext. 22291.  

This 48-hour course is required for certification as an Emergency Medical Responder in the state of Ohio, and is designed especially for those who first arrive at any emergency scene:  police, firefighters, and industrial workers.  Books are included in the cost of tuition.  The cost of the National Registry Exam is extra.  Accreditation #119.

This 150-hour Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course is based on the EMS educational standards and is required for certification as an EMT in the state of Ohio.  The curriculum is designed to prepared an individual to serve on ambulance services and fire departments.  Must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, a driver's license, and have not been convicted of, pleaded guilty to, or had judicial finding of guilty to crimes listed in OAC 4765-8-01.  Books and national exam are extra.  Twenty hours of clinical time is in additional to the 150-hour course curriculum.  Accreditation #119.

American Safety & Health Institute's Emergency Medical Response (EMR) program is designed for non-EMS responders who desire or require certification in Emergency Medical Response.  This program is consistent with national EMS curriculum requirements and education standards.  It is ideal for those who need training comparable to Emergency Medical Responder, but do not need licensure or credentialing from a state EMS agency.

Individual Training Courses

This 30-hour course meets re-certification requirements for EMT in the state of Ohio.  It can also be used for continuing education hours for other levels of training.

This 15-hour course meets re-certification requirements for First Responders in the state of Ohio.

Refresher course necessary for the state of Ohio EMT re-certification and National Registry written exam requirements to continue testing for certification.  Students will integrate knowledge and skills learned in previous courses in order to demonstrate competence in EMT skills and techniques.  Once assigned classwork is completed online, students will also need to complete the Ohio Trauma Triage & Rescue Task Force training available online at the public safety campus. 

These hybrid classes allow you to do the classroom portion of the Emergency Care and Safety Institute course from home at your leisure.  When online portion is completed, make an appointment at JVS for a skill check-off. 

The American Health and Safety Institute (AHSI) is one resource you can depend on to offer the latest skills, techniques, and expertise in life-saving situations.  Program content and learning activities can be customized by JVS staff and delivered on-site or at a facility of your choice.  We offer ASHI classes in all levels of CPR, First Aid, First Responder, Blood-borne Pathogens, and Emergency Vehicle Operation.

This 16-hour course meets the Wilderness First Aid requirements of the Boy Scouts of America and lincudes CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED), asthma and diabetic emergencies, bleeding, wound care tourniquet use, and injuries to the brain.  Includes the 2nd edition Field Guide, which is durable and water resistant.
