Dear Students and Parents,

We know that many of you have questions around graduation and the end of the school year. It is important to us that these questions are answered for you, but in many cases, we are still waiting for further information. Here is what we know right now.

State Testing and Graduation Requirements: There will be no state testing for the rest of this school year. Each home school will determine their own graduation requirements, final exams, and 2nd semester grades. More information will be coming about that.

Senior Recognition Ceremony: You have worked hard and we are proud of you. You will have a Senior Recognition Ceremony. If our commencement ceremony date has to change, we will find a date at a later time.  We will be celebrating your successes and the close to your high school career!

Your physical and emotional well-being is of the utmost importance to us. Your teachers are here for you as well.  Please contact them with any questions regarding your current schoolwork.

Stay healthy! We hope to celebrate with you soon.

The health and welfare of our students at the Lorain County JVS is our top priority. We know that providing breakfast and lunch to our students is an important part of that. We are asking that our students work directly with their home school for these meal plans. These locations are better suited to provide meals at this time, due to travel constraints for our varied communities.

We will continue to provide updates via email, Facebook, Twitter, and our coronavirus landing page. Please check back as we continue to provide updates in real time. Additional questions not addressed here can be sent to [email protected].

The Lorain County JVS is closely monitoring the developing situation around Coronavirus cases in Ohio. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we are following the recommendations set forth by the Lorain County Board of Health and Centers for Disease Control (CDC). As of March 10, 2020, there are three confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ohio and the risk to the general public remains low.

Here are the recommendations from the CDC on how to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility).
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
