The Lorain County JVS FFA Chapter hosted its annual banquet, bringing together students, families, and staff for a night of celebration, recognition, and tradition. With over 60 members in attendance, the banquet honored outstanding student achievements, spotlighted career development milestones, and welcomed the incoming FFA officer team.
Student Spotlight: Awards of Distinction
The evening recognized top students for their dedication, professionalism, and engagement throughout the year. Among the highlights:

In a standout moment of the evening, Kirby Herrera (Landscape and Greenhouse Management, Columbia) was presented the prestigious 110% Award, sponsored by AgCredit—for the second consecutive year. This award is given to the FFA chapter student who consistently goes above and beyond for their chapter and their career tech program. Kirby is the first student in LCJVS FFA history to receive the honor twice—a rare and meaningful achievement that reflects her consistent commitment and leadership.
“I love being part of FFA because it’s more than just agriculture—it’s leadership, service, and a second family,” shared Herrera. “Winning the 110% Award again means so much to me because it shows that hard work and being there for your team really matters.”

Why FFA Matters
More than just an extracurricular, the FFA provides students with real-world skills, leadership development, and a sense of purpose. Through hands-on learning, career exploration, and service opportunities, FFA members build confidence and character—qualities that strengthen not only their future careers, but also the communities they serve.
The National FFA Organization is a premier student leadership organization that prepares young people for careers in agriculture and related industries. The Lorain County JVS chapter proudly upholds this mission through industry-aligned instruction, strong mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
