The 2024 Lorain County JVS Senior Recognition Ceremony was held at Black River Landing in Lorain on Thursday, May 16, with 412 students receiving career-technical certificates in their respective fields.
Lorain County JVS High School Principal, Tina Pelto, welcomed and addressed the senior students, their families, and guests to the Senior Recognition Ceremony. “We want to thank you for sharing our passion for Career Tech education. From the very beginning, you got it. You knew that the trades matter, that hard work pays off, and that people who work with their hands drive our economy. You came to Lorain County JVS excited to learn a new trade and practiced over and over again to perfect your skills. We love this about you!”
As the student speaker, Devin Ansel, an Agricultural Equipment Mechanics senior from Midview, shared remarks about his high school journey. “As you walk through the doors at Lorain County JVS, there are multiple opportunities in the air waiting for you. LCJVS offers opportunities to everyone, not only to build technical skills but also to build life skills.”
During the ceremony, fifteen students were acknowledged for being members of the National Technical Honor Society, twenty-two students were applauded for earning nearly $32,000 in local scholarships, and four students were recognized for enlisting in the US Armed Forces.
At the close of the ceremony, Lorain County JVS Superintendent, Dr. Glenn Faircloth shared these remarks. “We thank you all for allowing us to have your precious cargo for anywhere between one and four years. These students are equipped to not only get a job but to also change the world. We are so proud of you all. Congratulations.”
