The fifth-annual Lorain County JVS Signing Day event was held on May 7 with high school seniors being celebrated for committing to full-time employment or an apprenticeship in their skilled trade after graduation.
In a style like “National Signing Day” events for high school student-athletes, the career tech students were recognized as they signed their “letters of intent” for a job offer.
“Career-technical education provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue successful careers in a variety of fields, such as healthcare, technology, and the skilled trades” shared Megan Champagne, Lorain County JVS associate principal. “Today we celebrate our students who have chosen to pursue a career through CTE programs. They have dedicated countless hours to learning the necessary skills and gaining real-world experience to become successful professionals in their chosen fields.”
Each student was called up to receive their ‘letter of intent’ and signed it with their employer behind them. Students were celebrated among school administrators, teachers, local business partners, family, and friends, as they took the next step in their career paths.
To end the celebration, Lorain County JVS Superintendent, Dr. Glenn Faircloth, shared these words, “This signing day is something tremendous for our students, their families, and the employers. We thank our business partners for their continued support. Lorain County JVS belongs to this county. Congratulations to all our students.”
