LCJVS Adds School Resource Officer

Deputy Matthew Pozega, Lorain County JVS School Resource Officer

Last week, Lorain County JVS introduced Deputy Matthew Pozega as an additional School Resource Officer for the high school and Adult Career Center. Deputy Pozega joins the current Lorain County JVS School Resource Office, Deputy David Walker.

“As our enrollment continues to increase, we felt it was time to add an additional full-time SRO to the team. Safety continues to be our top priority, so this decision was an easy one to make,” said Lorain County JVS Superintendent Dr. Glenn Faircloth.

Deputy Pozega has been with the Lorain County Sheriff's Office since 1998 when he started his career as a Corrections Officer. He became a deputy in 2003.

Lorain County Sherriff, Phil R. Stammitti, shared that Deputy Pozega has worked patrol and warrants, has been a field training officer to new deputies, and is viewed by his peers as a knowledgeable officer. “I know in his new role as an SRO, Deputy Pozega will excel and fit in with all the students and teachers. He is a great listener with a lot of patience.”

“As SRO, I hope to build a good rapport with students and staff and leave a good impression with students to do better and motivate them to try and be the best they can be,” said Pozega.

Stammitti added, “Having Deputy Pozega at Lorain County JVS will help the safety of everyone present at the school.”
