JVS Reflections Salon Celebrates Grand Opening

The energy in the Lorain County JVS Reflections Salon was that of anticipation along with some nervous excitement from high school cosmetology students as they opened for business today. The JVS senior cosmetology students operate the Reflections Salon under the direction of licensed JVS instructors Jean Sarconi and Sandra Hernandez.

Lexie Mock, senior cosmetology student from Amherst, was all smiles as she gave her first client a manicure with gel polish. Her client was her Mom, Linda Mock, who was very excited to be in the salon with her daughter on opening day.

“Lexie loves to do makeup and is very artistic, so I felt that her coming to the JVS gave her the best foundation for what her future plans are and will get her ahead of the curve when she goes off to college,” Mock stated.

Making her dream a reality is important to Lexie, and she knows exactly what she wants to accomplish. “It’s really cool to learn different things every single day, and I think that it will really help me reach my goal of becoming a special effects makeup artist.”

The salon offers services in hair and scalp care such as cutting, styling, and scalp massage. Additional services such as permanent waves, relaxers, coloring, and highlights are also available. Customers can also receive services in skin and nail care including facials, manicures and pedicures.

A color touch up was in store for Cheryl Newman. Her granddaughter, Christina Horvath, cosmetology senior from Amherst was the stylist performing the service. Newman was happy to be there to support her granddaughter’s schooling and future career.

Other salon clients were getting services that included pedicures and manicures with arm massages.

Customer service is vitally important in the training process at the salon. The front desk is operated by salon manager, Taylor Curtiss, senior from Wellington, and receptionist, Cayla Riggs, senior from Firelands.

On most school days, The Reflections Salon is open Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00am - 12:30pm with the last chemical appointment taken at 10:30am. Salon services are performed on a "first come, first served" basis. For more information, call 440-774-1051 ext. 22373.
