Students Excel at State SkillsUSA Competitions

JVS students shined at the State SkillsUSA Competition in Columbus on April 16th. Four students were awarded gold medals, and will be advancing to the National Competition held in Louisville, Kentucky in June.

All students who competed are listed by school district below.

Amherst - Zachary Pena, Culinary Arts senior, was awarded a gold medal in the Restaurant Service event and will be advancing to nationals

Brookside - Cayden Gainer, Heating and Air Conditioning senior, was awarded a silver medal in the Sheet Metal event

Clearview - Megan Rataj, Culinary Arts junior, was awarded a gold medal in the Culinary Arts event and will be advancing to nationals

Firelands - Victoria Barnett, Bakery and Pastry Arts senior, was awarded a gold in the Commercial Baking event and will be advancing to nationals; Jacob Holland, Heating and Air Conditioning senior, was awarded a bronze medal in the Plumbing event

Also, Bailey Allen, Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center Cosmetology student from South Amherst, received a gold medal in the post-secondary Cosmetology competition. Bailey will be advancing to the national competition in June as well.
