This is your opportunity to join Benko Products as a Welder / Fabricator Trainee. You’ll be taught to use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders. You’ll then use welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. Welder apprentice will receive comprehensive training to meet requirements to attain 3G AWS welding certification. The right candidate must commit to remaining with Benko Products as an employee in good standing for a minimum of 24 months after successfully completing training.
    JOB DESCRIPTION: On the job training with experienced welders Apply appropriate welding processes to fabricate utility structures according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics and sketches using welding equipment May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
    Grinding, drilling, cutting/sawing and cleaning steel and aluminum components May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications Observe all standard safety practices and maintains and completes all required records Follow all safety rules and practices May be involved in safety committees or initiatives Perform other duties as assigned
    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, OTHER REQUIREMENTS Must be reliable with a history of minimal absenteeism Must be able to work overtime when needed Must be able to listen well and apply information Must have mechanical aptitude and ability Must be able to stand for all or most of a regular work shift as well as reach, bend and stoop Must have visual acuity Welding experience is a plus Blueprint reading skills are a plus Grinding experience is a plus Drilling experience is a plus High school diploma or equivalent Additional technical education background is a plus Tow motor experience is a plus Must be able to collaborate with others Must have reliable transportation In lieu of welding coursework, prior experience in in one or more of the following fields is acceptable: Agricultural Automotive Military Mechanical maintenance SHIFT 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Overtime possible before or after regular shift. STARTING WAGE $12.00 - $16.00 per hour depending on skill level/training. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Applicants must have ability to lift 50lbs.
