Early Job Placement

Early Job Placement

An important goal of career-technical education is effective job placement for students. The Job Placement Service matches students' skills and career interests with employers' needs. Effective job matches will reduce an employer's hiring and turnover costs.

Job Placement may begin in October for high school students who have completed the Summer Internship Program and January for all other qualifying seniors. Eligible students are permitted to work during the lab portion of the school day up to 100 half-days or 50 full-days during their senior year.

Prior to employment, all students and their employers will complete a formal Training Agreement. The Training Agreement outlines personal information and lists job duties and responsibilities. Additionally, a Training Agreement allows 16 & 17 year old high school students to legally perform most job duties by exempting them from some of the Child Labor Laws.
